The City of Cortina d’Ampezzo informs that the Milan Cortina 2026 Foundation has activated the School Ticketing program, an initiative dedicated to encouraging the participation of local students in the events of the 2026 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games.

The project was created with the aim of bringing younger people into sports, conveying the values of inclusion, respect and healthy competition that characterize the Olympic and Paralympic spirit.

As a result of this program, 40,000 tickets will be made available to schools at subsidized rates:

  • 16 euros to attend Olympic competitions
  • 10 euros for Paralympic competitions

This is a major investment that the Foundation intends to support to ensure the widest possible participation and a unique experience of cultural, sporting and social growth for new generations.

To encourage the involvement of future generations as a goal of the Games’ legacy, the Organizing Committee has made available to the Ministry the opportunity to purchase exclusive tickets for school students from all over Italy to attend the sports competitions of the Olympic and Paralympic Games.

It is specified that the Ministry has invited the regional school offices to inform schools in the area and collect, by October 20, 2025, requests for tickets to attend the competitions.

For more information and to consider purchasing tickets reserved for schools, the Milan Cortina 2026 Foundation ticketing office can be contacted at: ticketing@milanocortina2026.org

Cortina d’Ampezzo and Venice’s “Marco Polo” Airport are strengthening their partnership with the “Just 2 hours away from here!” territorial marketing campaign displayed in the terminal’s arrivals area, reminding passengers of the proximity of Cortina and the Dolomites, which can be reached from the Venice airport in just two hours.

A call made through evocative images of Cortina’s most iconic mountains, accompanied by the iconic red squirrel symbol, placed in the baggage claim area that becomes an international showcase for the Queen of the Dolomites.

The initiative, which stems from an agreement between Cortina Marketing and the SAVE Group, is particularly aimed at raising awareness among travelers from long-haul destinations, which make up a growing traffic segment at Marco Polo.

“Venice Airport is in fact the airport of Cortina d’Ampezzo. This is why we are proud of the partnership struck with Save that promotes the image of Cortina in the arrivals area of the Venetian airport. At this time when Cortina and the rest of the territory is launched towards an international tourism development, following the visibility that the Olympics and Paralympics will give us, all the synergies with the realities interested in collaborating in this development become fundamental. Cortina Marketing is doing an excellent job precisely to foster these collaborations “-said Roberta Alverà, deputy mayor of Cortina d’Ampezzo.

“The collaboration with Cortina Marketing, in following up on what we have already started with the Dolomiti Bellunesi Foundation, is part of our goal to reduce the seasonality of traffic flows at the Venice airport by extending them into the winter period. With less than 140 days to go before the event of the Olympics and Paralympics, for which Marco Polo is the official gateway to the Northeast, recalling the proximity of Cortina and the Dolomites to the airport is a valuable opportunity to reinforce this message together,” – said Camillo Bozzolo, Director of Aviation Development of SAVE Group.

The first locations earmarked for the 2026 Winter Olympics are finally taking shape in Cortina.

The current temporary parking lot in the area adjacent to the Ice Stadium – near Hotel Barisetti – will be closed to make way for facilities dedicated to the 2026 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games Broadcasting service.

Broadcasting represents theset of television and multimedia production and broadcasting activities that will allow the Olympics to be told around the world, giving visibility to the event and to the image of Cortina d’Ampezzo.
The intervention includes the installation of temporary structures – containers, tensile structures and technical spaces – functional for the management of international filming and broadcasting that will remain operational for the duration of the Olympics and Paralympics. The space will be dismantled at the end of the event next March 2026.

The City of Cortina points out that the parking lot in question had already been identified as temporary and that the areas have long been designated for the Olympic event. In order to avoid further complications to the road system and livability of the town, it was decided to start the work at this time, after the large summer tourist flow in August and before the winter season starts.

As of Monday, September 15, 2025, therefore, parking will no longer be available.

We apologize in advance for any inconvenience and thank citizens for understanding.

The Municipality of Treviso and the Municipality of Cortina d’Ampezzo have signed a Memorandum of Understanding aimed at defining an institutional collaboration in view of the Milan Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games, scheduled for February 2026. The document aims to make the alliance between the territories even more solid through the involvement of Civil Defense and Local Police but also in sharing territorial promotion strategies.

The City of Treviso, given its geographical location and the important air, rail and road connections in the area, will be one of the logistical references and crucial hub for athletes, spectators and operators during the event. A cultural and tourist hub that will also see, by virtue of the collaboration in support of Cortina d’Ampezzo, the deployment of Local Police forces and Civil Defense Volunteers during the moments of greatest influx and international visibility.

The collaboration involves a commitment between the two municipalities on several fronts: a collaboration in the administrative and operational spheres to the organization of cultural events, from the mutual promotion of artistic and museum heritage to the enhancement of tourist and territorial offers to cooperation in civil defense and Local Police services. One of the main focuses is also on integrated communication tools through both traditional and digital tools by creating an inter-territorial tourism promotion network also in a post-Olympic perspective. Finally, the protocol provides that other public bodies and stakeholders can be involved through subsequent agreements making the agreement open and inclusive to multiply its impact.

A first proposal in this shared path is the initiative scheduled for Wednesday, August 6, at 6 p.m. at Alexander Girardi Hall in Cortina d’Ampezzo. During the “Una Montagna di Libri” festival, curator Marco Goldin’s lecture-meeting entitled “From Picasso to Van Gogh. Stories of painting from abstraction to impressionism.”

Mayors’ statements

Mayor of Cortina G. Lorenzi and Mayor of Treviso M. Conte

“This agreement marks the beginning of a genuine synergy between two communities that share a desire to work together around a common project,” the words of Treviso Mayor Mario Conte. “Treviso is making itself available as a reference on a logistical level, but also as a cultural and organizational engine, providing its Local Police and Civil Defense personnel. We are proud to contribute to making the 2026 Olympics an important showcase for our entire territory, with positive economic, tourism and identity spin-offs.”

Thus the mayor of Cortina, Gianluca Lorenzi: “I would like to thank Mayor Conte and the City of Treviso, which made itself available from the beginning for this institutional collaboration. The Municipality of Cortina has 7 traffic policemen on its staff but has to comply with IOC requirements. The hope is that this protocol will be followed by others with Venetian municipalities, so as to create a positive model of collaboration in the area in view of a planetary event such as the one we will experience in February.”

Today, in the Council Chamber of the Cortina d’Ampezzo City Hall, the “Cortina Ambassador 2026” project was officially presented, an initiative of the municipality carried out in collaboration with Cortina Marketing, created to enhance the most authentic and vital face of the Queen of the Dolomites in view of the 2026 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.

The project focuses on people, community and territory, and was born with the desire to tell the story of Cortina not only as a tourist destination, but as a place of life, identity and rootedness, where mountains, culture, sports and tradition are intertwined every day.

The Cortina Ambassadors 2026 are citizens, sportsmen, artisans, chefs, entrepreneurs, rulers, experts in culture and nature: diverse figures but united by a strong bond with Cortina, who have made themselves available to tell their experience and vision of the resort to the media, influencers and visitors, becoming the true protagonists of the Olympic reception.

During today’s presentation, official nomination scrolls and uniforms were presented to 30 Ambassadors, including: Manuela Angeli, Bruno Alberti, Franco Sovilla, Flavio Menardi and many others….

The project is part of the “Cortina Welcome 2026” program , a broader system of actions dedicated to tourist information and hospitality during the Games. With “Cortina Ambassadors 2026,” the Queen of the Dolomites confirms its ability to welcome the world, starting with what it has most precious: its people.

Statement by Roberta Alverà, Councillor for Culture and Deputy Mayor of Cortina d’Ampezzo

“The Olympics represent a historic moment for Cortina that will leave an important legacy in terms of infrastructure, mobility and accommodation. But above all, they offer our resort a huge opportunity for tourism visibility. It is essential to know how to seize this moment and work already today to build Cortina’s tourism future.
Through projects like Cortina Ambassador 2026 and Cortina Welcome 2026, we are implementing concrete strategies to promote the most authentic, complete and diversified image of our offer: sports, culture, food and wine and traditions. Thanks to the Ambassadors, it will be the voices of citizens, artisans, sportsmen, and local experts who will tell Cortina to the
world, with pride and passion.”

Gianluca Lorenzi, Mayor of Cortina d’Ampezzo

“To see all generations represented among the Ambassadors today is a source of great satisfaction for me. Each of them brings with them an experience, an authentic story that will give strength to the Cortina narrative. This project is an important step toward building the Cortina of the future: we are facing great transformations, and we need energy, responsibility and visions. The Ambassadors will be our spokespersons to the outside world, capable of conveying a positive and engaging message,
based on love for our country.”

Josep Ejarque, Strategic Advisor for Cortina Marketing.

“Being an Ambassador means loving Cortina and knowing how to tell about it. This project was created in response to a concrete request from the media, both Italian and international, who want to get to know the real Cortina, the one experienced. The role of the Ambassadors is precisely this: to show a destination that is not just a postcard, but a community that is alive, active and welcoming all year round. Thanks to their testimony, we will be able to convey the real added value of our resort compared to other Alpine destinations.”

The Municipal Administration of Cortina d’Ampezzo expresses its thanks to the Government Commissioner, Arch. Fabio Massimo Saldini, and the Government for their constant and concrete efforts in support of the construction of the new Apollonio-Socrepes ropeway.

The official awarding of the works represents a milestone for the future of our community. It is indeed a strategic work, not only in view of the 2026 Winter Olympic Games, but also and above all for the long-term development of Cortina.

The new facility will contribute decisively to strengthening the ski offer of the area, improving the usability of the areas involved and strengthening the tourist attractiveness of our resort. At the same time, the infrastructure plays an essential role in a perspective of new viability and sustainable mobility: in fact, it will make it possible to lighten the traffic and vehicular load on the town center, favoring a better management of tourist flows and a higher overall livability for residents and guests.

The Administration also welcomes the attention paid to environmental and landscape aspects, as well as to the safety of the territory, elements that we believe are essential for any project that impacts the natural heritage and the Ampezzo community.

We reiterate our support for the project and confirm full institutional cooperation to ensure that this important work is completed on schedule and with the quality Cortina deserves.

Ahead of the XXV Olympic Winter Games Milan Cortina 2026 and the Paralympic Winter Games Milan Cortina 2026, our town is preparing to welcome visitors, athletes, media and operators from all over the world. Business activities will play an important role in this scenario. That is why it is useful to clarify from now on how to set up your business activities, what you can do and what you cannot do, especially to avoid misuse of Olympic and/or Paralympic Properties or misunderstandings about participation in the event.
Elements such as the logo, mascots, the five circles or the expression “Milano Cortina 2026” and its derivatives, are protected, reserved for official partners and protected by law at all times: before, during and after the Games. It is therefore essential not to use them.

You may decorate your store inspired by winter sports and snow, creating thematic settings, as long as no association with the Games is suggested.
References to participating countries and official competition venues are to be avoided. No products with Olympic or Paralympic trademarks may be displayed, sold or distributed within the outlet unless they come from officially authorized channels.

On merchandising: only official products, recognizable by the hologram on the label, may be sold. All other items-even if only inspired by the Games-are not allowed unless they have been authorized.

Even for promotional communications (social posts, flyers, offers), it is crucial to avoid any direct reference to the Games unless you have official authorization. One cannot suggest-not even indirectly-an affiliation with the Olympic organization, nor promote products or services as if they were related to the event, in order not to mislead the end consumer about the existence of an official link to the Games.

Finally, special attention should be paid to the venues area, i.e., areas within 500 meters of the race facilities-the Olympia Tofane Ski Slope, the Sliding Centre or the Olympic Stadium. More restrictive rules apply in these areas: unauthorized street trading is prohibited and promotional materials cannot be distributed. Advertising spaces are reserved for official partners.

Everyone will be able to contribute to creating a welcoming atmosphere consistent with the Olympic spirit, enhancing the image of the resort in a decorous manner and in line with the principles of fairness and current regulations. To purchase authorized materials, you can contact Milano Cortina 2026 Foundation on the Homepage | Milano Cortina 2026

The Municipality of Cortina d’Ampezzo, in collaboration with the Veneto Region, other institutional stakeholders and with the technical operational support of KPMG, has developed the Financial Economic Plan (PEF) to ensure the sustainable management of the “Eugenio Monti” Sliding Centre and the full functionality of the slope also in the post-Olympic period.

The PEF is based on strict cost control, diversification of revenue sources, and the enhancement of sports and tourism activities, ensuring efficient and sustainable management by zeroing or minimizing the public contribution once the runway management has come on stream.

A model of integrated sustainability

The plan is for the track to remain fully operational even after the Games, becoming the site of an international sports calendar. Cortina Foundation, in collaboration with the relevant federations, is already working to define official competitions and training periods that will ensure regular technical use of the facility, making it a stable and strategic resource for the area.

The project also enhances the facility as a tourist and recreational bob-race hub. The so-called taxi-bob activity, a kind of amusement park attraction with professional riders, designed for both winter and summer, will allow residents and visitors to experience the thrill of the track in an accessible and safe manner.

In addition, complementary revenues are expected to be generated from some of the municipality’s real estate assets, such as the Former Bakery and the Market Square area, which are undergoing redevelopment: thanks to the investments taken care of by SIMICO, these spaces will be made functional and put to income, generating a structural profitability intended to help cover the facility’s operating costs and will provide concrete support for the long-term economic balance envisaged in the plan.

A concrete commitment of the Veneto Region

As part of this path, the Veneto Region has allocated €3 million to support the start-up phase of the plant in the three-year period 2025-2027, dedicated not to covering operating losses but to the purchase of equipment and initial supplies.

Statements

Luca Zaia, President of the Veneto Region

“The new bobsled run in Cortina is much more than a sports infrastructure: it is a symbol of what Veneto and Italy are capable of building. A work of great technical and architectural value, it will be an engine of growth for youth sports, for winter and summer tourism and for our entire mountain territory. This Sliding Centre will become an international reference point, hosting training, competitions and meetings that will train new generations of champions, in the wake of the legacy left by Eugenio Monti, the legendary ‘flying red’. Investing today in facilities like this means leaving a concrete legacy: a living space, capable of generating value, opportunities and pride for the future. And with the possibility, even in summer, to offer tourists and sportsmen the unique experience of guided descents.”

Gianluca Lorenzi, Mayor of Cortina d’Ampezzo

“The Sliding Centre is not just a sports facility: it is a challenge that we have taken on as a community and are turning into a concrete opportunity for Cortina. Thanks to a serious financial plan, the support of the Veneto Region and the synergistic work of these months, today we can say that this facility has a solid foundation to look to the future. We do not want to leave cathedrals in the desert, but places that are alive and frequented, capable of generating value – for athletes, for tourists, for all our people. It is a project on which we will continue to work with determination. Because this runway, born amidst a thousand discussions, will instead be one of the most beautiful legacies we will leave to future generations.”
