The Spectaculars have been placed in Piazza Roma, a newly revamped space that will open in December 2023. The square offers a magnificent view of the Ampezzo Valley, with the Tofane massif, with its three main peaks, looming in the background.

The opening of the Spectaculars marks the official start of the countdown to the opening of the Milan Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic Games in 564 days.

The ceremony was opened by the song “Fino all’alba” by Arisa, anthem of the Milan Cortina 2026 Olympic Games. Antonio Colli (sports announcer and speaker) welcomed everyone and the authorities present: Mayor Gianluca Lorenzi, Deputy Mayor Roberta Alverà, Sports Councillor Giorgio Da Rin, H.E. the Prefect of Belluno Dr. Antonello Roccoberton and Councilwoman Silvia Cestaro representing the Veneto Region.

To unveil the two installations of Olympic and Paralympic symbols, several prominent athletes spoke: Stefania Constantini, gold medalist in the Beijing 2022 Olympics for Curling; Flavio Menardi, world champion in Para-bob; and Mattia Gaspari, world champion in Skeleton. As well as Bruno Alberti, former Italian alpine skier.
